- Product stack data — the products you add to your skincare routine
- Medication selections — medications or supplements you select for interaction checking
- Skin concerns — concerns you select when using the routine builder
Information collected automatically:
- Search queries — product searches you perform on the platform
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, interactions with the platform
- Affiliate click data — when you click outbound shopping links, we log the product, source page, and timestamp
- Device information — browser type, operating system, screen size (via standard web analytics)
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the Service — analyzing ingredient interactions, building routines, saving your stack
- To improve the Service — understanding which products and features are most popular
- To generate aggregate analytics — trending products, popular ingredients, search patterns (never sold as individual data)
- To fulfill affiliate partnerships — tracking clicks to retailer sites for commission purposes

4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We use row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We use HTTPS for all data transmission.
5. Guest vs. Authenticated Users
You can use Shelfie without creating an account. Guest data is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and is not transmitted to our servers. If you create an account, your stack and preferences are synced to our database for cross-device access.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase — database and authentication
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI-powered product search and recommendations. Search queries are sent to Anthropic's API for processing. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — hosting and deployment
- Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, Rakuten, CJ Affiliate, Awin, Skimlinks) — when you click shopping links, you are redirected through affiliate tracking before reaching the retailer
7. Affiliate Links & Cookies
When you click a shopping link, you may be redirected through an affiliate network that sets cookies on your device. These cookies are controlled by the respective affiliate networks and retailers, not by Shelfie. Please refer to each retailer's cookie policy for details.
8. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in these limited cases:
- Aggregate analytics — anonymized, non-identifying trends (e.g., "CeraVe was the most searched brand this week")
- Affiliate networks — click data necessary for commission tracking (product name, timestamp)
- Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect our rights
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — request a copy of information we hold about you
- Delete your data — request deletion of your account and associated data
